Story & Atmosphere
Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Montréal, Côte Café is a true gem for coffee lovers and pastry aficionados alike. Located at 3467 Chem. de la Côte-des-Neiges, this cozy café exudes warmth and charm from the moment you step inside. The owner, Ryan, originally from Vancouver, crafted this space with passion after noticing a gap in quality coffee options in the area. This care is evident in every cup served.
Côte Café showcases its mastery with expertly brewed espresso and cappuccinos rich in flavor and foam, as praised by many visitors. The Montreal fog—a local variation of the London fog infused with maple syrup—stands out as a must-try, offering a perfectly balanced sweetness that delights the palate. The coffee beans, sourced from well-regarded roasters like Zab and Traffic, underscore the café’s dedication to quality and authenticity.
The café’s bakery offerings deserve equal applause. Their buttery, crunchy croissants and fresh pastries are frequently described as heavenly and irresistible, often selling out quickly. Whether it’s an almond croissant, a spinach and feta pinwheel, or a cinnamon bun latte during the winter season, each item delivers fresh, rich flavors that complement the coffee beautifully.
What sets Côte Café apart is not only its carefully curated menu but also its welcoming atmosphere. The small indoor seating, alongside quaint outdoor tables, creates a laid-back environment perfect for quiet mornings or casual meet-ups. Dog owners will appreciate the dog-friendly outdoor seating, making it an inviting stop for early risers heading to Mont Royal or Saint Joseph’s Oratory.
Service here is a highlight on its own. Friendly, knowledgeable baristas provide thoughtful recommendations and a personal touch that makes every visit memorable. The inclusion of alternative milk at no extra cost reflects a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.
In essence, Côte Café is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a community spot where quality, warmth, and flavor come together. Whether you’re a local or exploring Montréal, this café offers a rare blend of expertly crafted coffee, delectable pastries, and heartfelt hospitality that invites you to savor the moment.
“ Excellent little cafe well stocked with Zab and Traffic beans. Ryan, originally from Vancouver, opened this place after moving into the area and finding a lack of good coffee options. They know what they’re doing here! A second location is in the works. ”
“ This place has everything you need to enjoy a great time while sipping your coffee and biting into the best buttery, crunchy croissant. Just keep in mind, they sell out fast! Whether you’re visiting Montreal or live here, don’t miss out. ”
“ The cappuccino had lots of foam and a rich, full-bodied flavor. The Montreal fog was delicious and perfectly sweet. A cozy café with warm, friendly service Merci ”
“ Absolutely divine. We discovered this on our first trip to Montreal walking our dog early in the morning. They were one of the only places near Mt Royal open around 7am, and oh my goodness we got so lucky. The espresso and drinks were best of the best, as were the baked goods and service. Also lovely dog friendly seating right outside the cafe. We ended up going here every morning of our trip, and it truly captured the essence of what we were hoping to experience in Montreal. When we return we are making sure our air bnb or hotel is walking distance from Côte Cafe! ”
“ This place was incredible. Genuinely one of the best experiences I've had at a coffee shop, especially with service. The nicest barista ever, gave us so many recommendations and overall, just great vibes. The coffee was also really good, and it cost nothing extra for alternative milk which is the first place I have seen do that. Only point off is for the fact we were unable to sit outside because of all the bees, though that is not their fault at all, just something to note because there isn't much seating inside, just one bench. All in all, will be back next time I go to Montreal. ”
